E-CAM

Eco-friendly Circular Advanced Materials & Additive Manufacturing Lab

Director

Ramona Fayazfar, Ph.D., P.Eng

Dr. Ramona Fayazfar, Ph.D., P.Eng. is an Assistant Professor at Ontario Tech University and Director of the Eco-Friendly Circular Advanced Materials & Additive Manufacturing (E-CAM) Lab. She also holds an affiliate associate graduate faculty appointment in Materials Science and Engineering. With over 20 years of experience in materials science, advanced manufacturing, and sustainability, Dr. Fayazfar leads interdisciplinary research at the intersection of additive manufacturing, the circular economy, and eco-friendly materials innovation to help a greener planet. She completed her Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. with high honors at Sharif University of Technology and held a prestigious postdoctoral position in the Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing group at the University of Waterloo. Her innovations have earned multiple recognitions, including the Best Research Award for sustainable nanocomposite development, a patented eco-friendly method for producing high-purity nanomaterials for polymer composites, and Best Paper/Presentation awards at several international conferences.

Her team develops sustainable, recyclable material formulations for 3D printing by transforming waste, recycled, renewable, and bio-based resources into high-performance, low-carbon, or carbon-negative materials. These innovations support climate and energy solutions across sectors such as construction and healthcare.

Her work has earned multiple awards, such as the Best Research Award for sustainable nanocomposites Development. As a strong advocate for women in STEM, she is an active member of Women in 3D Printing (Wi3DP) and Ontario Tech’s Women in Engineering mentorship program. She was selected as a panelist at TIPE 2023, a global AM conference featuring an all-women speaker lineup, and was featured as one of the Most Influential Women Leaders in Additive Manufacturing, as well as by Ontario Tech’s Women in Research Council (WIRC).
