Director
Ramona Fayazfar, Ph.D., P.Eng
Dr. Ramona Fayazfar is a materials scientist, professor, and Director of the Eco-Friendly Circular Advanced Materials & Additive Manufacturing (E-CAM) Lab. Her work sits at the forefront of circular materials, additive manufacturing, and sustainable innovation, with a focus on transforming waste streams into high-performance, low-carbon, and carbon-negative AM materials.
With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Fayazfar leads interdisciplinary research at E-CAM on engineered materials derived from mixed waste streams, biomass, and recycled resources. Her work advances polymer blends, biofiller-based composites, and low-carbon cementitious systems for applications in 3D-printed construction, packaging, consumer products, and automotive sectors, integrating formulation, processing, characterization, and standards-based qualification to deliver scalable, industry-ready solutions.
She received her Ph.D., MSc. and BSc. in Materials Science & Engineering with high honors from Sharif University of Technology and completed postdoctoral research with the Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing (MSAM) group at the University of Waterloo. Her research has resulted in patented technologies, high-impact publications, and multiple international awards, including recognitions for sustainable materials development and advanced manufacturing innovation.
Dr. Fayazfar actively collaborates with leading academic and industry partners and is committed to translating research into real-world impact, bridging laboratory innovation with industrial deployment. A strong advocate for equity and leadership in STEM, she is an active member of Women in 3D Printing (Wi3DP) and has been recognized among the most influential women in additive manufacturing.
